Dual Group One winning sprinter Sudurka is the winner of the Super Vobis Horse of the Year award for 2001-02, announced today at the Super Vobis awards function at Crown.

The Salinger Stakes and Oakleigh Plate winner, prepared by Brian Mayfield-Smith and raced by his breeder Barry Taylor, is now standing at Waikato Stud in New Zealand.

He beat a top field including Piavonic, North Boy, Ustinov, Dersert Eagle, Intelligent Star, Royal Code, Rubitano, Grey Song, She's Archie and Mon Mekki.

The Perugino six-year-old was retired after finishing a close seventh behind former stablemate Rubitano in the Newmarket Hcp (1200m) at Flemington last March.

Testa Rossa, who won the award the previous two seasons, is also a son of shuttle stallion and Danzig sire Perugino.
